Location: Kalmar Sweden (relocation preferred) or Germany with regular travel to Sweden

Are you an experienced Electrical Design Engineer (m/f/d) who enjoys complex, high-end machinery and wants to work close to the product? At Modig Machine Tool, you will be part of developing some of the world’s most advanced machining centers for the aerospace industry.

We are now looking for a skilled Electrical Design Engineer (m/f/d) who wants to join a highly technical environment where innovation, quality, and long-term customer relationships are at the core.

About Modig Machine Tool

Modig Machine Tool is a Swedish, family-owned company and a global leader in custom premium machines for the aerospace industry. Our solutions are used by leading OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers worldwide.

We distinguish ourselves through complete, integrated solutions – from problem solving and tailored machine design to manufacturing, testing, training, and ongoing technical support. Our production is characterised by innovation, creativity, and continuous development.

The Role

As an Electrical Design Engineer (m/f/d) at Modig, you will play a central role in the development of our high-performance CNC machines. You will be responsible for the detailed design of advanced electrical systems and ensure that our machines meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and reliability.

You will work closely with mechanical design, software, production, and commissioning teams, and you will see your designs come to life in real machines used in demanding industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities

Design of sensors, control and drive components
Design and develop electrical schematics and documentation for CNC machine tools
Create manufacturing and installation documentation for electrical systems
Select and specify electrical components, focusing on performance, reliability, and cost
Ensure compliance with relevant standards, directives, and safety regulations
Support hardware-related testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of machines
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across engineering and production
Contribute to continuous improvement of our electrical design concepts and methods

Your Profile

We believe you have:

Successfully completed electrical apprenticeship
An advanced vocational training as Electrical Engineering Technician (m/f/d) or a degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is an advantage but no requirement
Solid professional experience from hardware-related electrical design for industrial machinery, automation, or CNC systems
Strong skills in EPLAN (or a similar professional electrical CAD system)
Good technical understanding of industrial automation and control systems
Knowledge of drive and safety technology
Knowledge of relevant EU machinery directives and electrical standards
A structured way of working and the ability to take responsibility from concept through to final solution
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams
Good command of English, both spoken and written

Experience from international projects, custom machines, or aerospace/advanced manufacturing is an advantage but no requirement.

Location and Working Setup

The position is formally based at our headquarters in Kalmar, Sweden, and our clear preference is that you are willing to relocate and become part of our on-site team.

However, the most important factor for us is finding the right expert.
If you are based in Germany, we are open to a flexible arrangement, provided that:

you are able and willing to travel to Sweden regularly, and
you can spend time on site in Kalmar when needed for design reviews, testing, and close collaboration with the team.

The exact travel and on-site setup will be agreed together based on project needs.

Why Modig

At Modig you will:

Work with technically advanced, high-end CNC machines for world-leading customers
Have a real impact on the finished product – your designs make a visible difference
Be part of a skilled, dedicated engineering team with short decision paths
Join a stable, long-term company with strong roots and global reach
