With the combined study program in Industrial Engineering, you lay the foundation for your career. As an Industrial engineer, your expertise is needed in almost every part of the company – especially where technology and business management intersect. Whether in sales, logistics, quality management, or in the project planning of systems and machinery, you’ll have many exciting opportunities open to you. International assignments make your studies even more varied and prepare you perfectly for your future.

Your combined study program

STEP BY STEP THROUGH THE COMBINED STUDY PROGRAM

Year 1

In your first year, you’ll learn the basics of metalworking, complete your pre-study internship, and gain initial experience at BENTELER’s plants. You’ll also support projects like the Open House and get a first impression of everyday life in the company.

Year 2

In your second year, you’ll take on your own projects – for example at school fairs or internal events – and deepen your knowledge in areas such as control technology and robotics. With each practical assignment, your technical and organizational understanding grows.

Year 3

Your third year includes your international assignment. You’ll also complete your Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) exam as an Industrial Mechanic (m/f/x) and conduct your first plant tours.

Year 4

In your fourth year, you’ll meet managers at regular networking events, actively plan your plant assignments, and write your bachelor’s thesis.

Year 5

In your fifth year, you’ll deepen your knowledge in additional practical phases, complete your academic project, and optionally study a semester abroad.

Year 6

In your sixth year, you’ll work in potential target departments, contribute your knowledge to demanding projects, and complete the program with your master’s thesis – the ideal start for your career at BENTELER.

Requirements Find out if this path is right for you

For the combined study program in Industrial Engineering, you should bring technical understanding and practical skills. You enjoy exploring physical principles and tackle tasks logically and systematically. Commitment and a sense of responsibility are part of who you are. You should also have a general university entrance qualification (Abitur) with an overall grade of 2.5 or better, ideally with a focus on math or science and be interested in business topics. In German and English, you should have at least satisfactory grades.

When can I apply for a combined study program?

The application period for our combined study programs usually starts one year before the program begins So if you want to start in summer 2026, you can already apply now. It’s best to apply early — these programs are popular and places fill up quickly.

What does the selection procedure look like?

Once we receive your application, we review your documents and check whether everything has been submitted correctly. If everything fits, you’ll receive an invitation to a digital online test, which you can complete from home within a two-week period.

If you impress us with your profile, the next step is an in-person interview — and if it’s a good match on both sides, you’ll receive your offer for a dual study place at BENTELER!

Definitely! At BENTELER, combined study participants have access to regular internal training and development opportunities that support both professional and personal growth. This helps you expand your knowledge and strengthen your skills step by step.
