Your apprenticeship

Step by step through the apprenticeship

1st year of training

In your first year, you’ll learn how to handle key materials such as steel and aluminum. You’ll gain basic machining skills and get to know the main manufacturing processes — especially turning and milling. This lays the foundation for precise work on modern turning, milling, and grinding machines.

2nd year of training

In your second year, you’ll apply your knowledge in different areas at BENTELER and deepen your practical skills. You’ll get to know our production systems and work on your first real project assignments. You’ll also take part in specific module courses that will prepare you for your time in specialist departments and for the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) exam.

3rd year of training

In your third year, you’ll take on tasks directly for our production teams. You’ll take on more responsibility and work on more complex machining assignments. You’ll also have the chance to gain additional qualifications and specialize further through technical courses.

4th year of training

In your final year, you’ll prepare intensively for your final exam. You’ll gain extensive practical experience, take on increasing responsibility, and get to know the department where you could later continue your career after completing your training. You’ll be able to share your preferences in advance — and together we’ll explore your options. You’ll also receive targeted exam preparation.

You enjoy shaping things with precision?

For the CNC machining apprenticeship, you’ll need technical understanding, good spatial awareness, and an eye for detail. Most importantly, you’ll need a real interest in working with metals and programming CNC-controlled machines.

Additional requirements:

At least a good lower secondary school diploma
A long-term mindset and sense of responsibility — your work will help keep production running smoothly
You enjoy working in a team and are highly motivated and flexible.

Our Apprenticeship FAQ

What are the chances of being hired after the apprenticeship?

At BENTELER, we train for our own workforce needs. That means: if your performance is strong and you’re committed during your apprenticeship, you have excellent chances of being hired afterward and launching your career with us.

What does the selection procedure look like?

You’ll need a motivation letter, your résumé, and at least your two most recent school reports. If you’ve completed internships or have certificates – perfect! Upload them as well. They help us understand your experience and strengths.

Can I apply even if I don’t have my final school certificate?

Absolutely! You can apply even if your final report card isn’t available yet. In that case, simply send us your most recent mid-year reports. You can upload your final certificate later if we need it.
